This design classic is known as the "Arco" floor lamp with its beautifully formed polished marble vertical base designed by brothers Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni for Italian manufacturer Flos. The Arco floor lamp has been a design classic since 1962. This version is newer and dates to around 2010 - The label which sits within the shade states - FLOS ARCO IP20. Some of the original packaging and manufacturer's information booklets are also available.
The thin metal retractable arch is manufactured from a brushed satin stainless steel and is held upright by a very heavy block of polished grey and white Carrara marble. Parts of the arch retract into each other therefore making it possible to vary the length of the arc and its height. The light can also be directed to wherever its required by swivelling the shade in whichever direction. The shade is made of polished aluminium. A black plastic foot switch allows it to be turned on and off easily without having to bend over.
One previous lady owner. There are some very small chips illustrated in the images in the marble base which were caused when whomever put the light together where the stainless steel support slots into the top marble base which are illustrated in the images. The base takes two people to lift it carefully.
