1960s Italian Danese Milano Falkland Pendant Lamp

An unusual and striking 1960s Italian "Falkland" pendant hanging light designed by Bruno Munari for Danese Milano. Designed in 1964. The pale grey stretch fabric shade is stretched over five separate rings of varying sizes with another at the bottom. The fabric shade is suspended from a polished aluminium circular frame which holds the single E27 screw in bulb.  The light is lit by plugging it into a wall socket with an on/off switch on the flex but it could be wired into the ceiling if you wish.  The light is cleverly designed with small holes around each ring which help to alleviate any gathering of the fabric so it's smooth and flat as it flows down over each ring. The shade folds into itself to become flat therefore making it easy to ship and store. I've had the shade dry cleaned and the light rewired which is in full working order.  In very good vintage condition.  There are some tiny age related holes which are barely noticeable.  As you can see from the images the light reflects beautifully off as it filters down through the shade.

The manufacturer's stamp is inside the aluminium shade - DANESE MILANO. MADE IN ITALY. B. MUNARI 1964
