1950s Timor 69 Desk Lamp by Louis Kalff for Philips

Model, Timor 69, desk or table lamp designed by Louis Kalff for Philips, Netherlands in the 1950s.  The removable shade and base is of a matching dark green with a white interior inside the canopy shade.  The supporting rod is made from polished chromed metal with an on/off switch on the base.  The Philips brand logo is stamped on the base between the switch and the rod.  This is a very well-known design featuring a distinctive UFO-shaped aluminum removable lampshade.

The canopy has a wonderful patina but has some areas of age related wear around the outside edges where the metal comes through the dark green finish.  The outside edges of the base also has some wear as well.  The chrome ring which is usually at the bottom of the rod is missing which allows the wear, which would normally be hidden, to be shown.  This is illustrated in the images and also reflected in the lamp's price. Despite these issues I think it's an amazing light and they just add to its provenance.

The light switch on the base is in full working order. The light has been rewired and PAT tested.
