This striking pendant light, a vintage piece from the 1970s, was designed and manufactured in Germany by the renowned company Peill & Putzler. The shade is crafted from thick, conical opaque glass that features a subtle, circular "whirlpool effect" pattern and small feature bubbles, adding a unique texture and visual interest.
This light is specifically designed to create an intimate atmosphere, making it perfect for hanging above a dining table for dinner parties or card games. The height is adjustable, with a maximum drop of 160cm, allowing you to customize its placement to suit your space. The adjustment is made by a red screw hidden inside the ceiling cup, which releases a white string that can be re-tightened once the desired height is achieved. A separate string holds the light securely in place, while a white electrical flex corkscrews around it.
The original Putzler manufacturer's label is still visible on the glass shade.
The lamp requires a single screw-in E27 bulb. It is in very good vintage condition with no chips or cracks to the glass, though the corkscrew wire does show some age-related discolouration.
