A striking 1980s Christian Koban “Lily of the Valley” five-arm arc floor lamp, manufactured by the German company DOM, is an elegant example of late-modernist design that pairs sculptural presence with practical versatility. Its heavy, polished chrome circular base provides excellent stability and supports a tall vertical stem from which five graceful arcing branches extend. Each branch holds a rounded chrome shade with a white interior and heat-release slots on top, a detail from the pre-LED era that now adds vintage authenticity and character.
The lamp can be adjusted in multiple ways, allowing the arcs and heads to be positioned to direct light precisely where it is needed, making it equally suited for ambient illumination or focused task lighting.
Despite a few small surface scratches on the shades and base consistent with age, the lamp remains in very good vintage condition, retaining its reflective shine and sculptural elegance. There is some discolouration to the slotted are of one of the chrome shades which I am presuming was caused by the heat from the lightbulb. None of the others have this issue but it's barely noticeable.
A foot-operated dimmer switch along the cord allows for easy adjustment of light intensity, enhancing its functionality in contemporary interiors.
The base is designed to easily slot under a sofa or armchair enabling the five arc shades to be positioned over them.
The lamp requires five E14 Edison lightbulbs, and LED clear dimmable golfball bulbs are recommended for optimal effect. It is offered without the bulbs.
At the moment the floor lamp is wired to EU standards but will be wired for the UK spending on where you're located.
The chrome arc sections are detachable from the base for transportation purposes. It is a two person job to slot them back in.
