Circa. 1890 Italian marble bust of an elegant lady by Guglielmo Pugi.  A beautifully carved marble bust, depicting a woman wearing an intricately carved turban, gazing towards her right. The lady is wearing a grey marbled tunic dress perhaps for a party. There is a lovely etched design around the neck of the dress which I have illustrated in the images.

Guglielmo Pugi (1850- 1915) was born in Fiesole which is a small town close to Florence. He was a highly regarded and skilled sculptor who specialised in female figures and busts.

In good vintage condition with one tiny chip to the front of her grey dress.

Dimensions: Width: 23cm Depth: 11cm Height: 36cm

From Wikipedia: Guglielmo Pugi (1850-1915), born in Fiesole, Italy, was an Italian sculptor whose studio was in Florence. He and his sons, Gino and Fiorenzo, functioned as Guglielmo Pugi and Sons, and the sons later operated as Fratelli G. and F. Pugi (also known as Pugi Brothers). They primarily served the export market and were present at the 1901 World Fair in Buffalo and some of their sculptures are still in Buffalo parks today. Example works ("Statues, busts, and groups in marble") by G. and F. Pugi Brothers were displayed in the Palace of Manufactures in the 1904 St. Louis World's Fair.
