1960s Italian Murano clear textured iced glass chandelier by Venini. This stunning vintage chandelier is a remarkable example of Mid-Century Modern Italian lighting design, attributed to the esteemed glassmaker Venini. Handcrafted on the famous island of Murano, Italy, circa 1960s, it showcases the pinnacle of artisan glassblowing techniques. The fixture features eight clear, textured Murano glass elements suspended from a minimal frame of brushed nickel. The lightbulbs sit within the eight tubes.
The surface of the glass catches and multiplies the light, creating a dazzling and luxurious effect that serves as a captivating focal point in any room. This piece embodies timeless elegance and a sophisticated design aesthetic.
The eight glass elements of two different sizes are attached to the frame via small screws which are fitted to a white circular fitting at the top of each element allowing them to cascade or cluster around the lightbulbs.
There is some age-related discolouration to the white fittings as shown in the images. There are no chips or cracks to the glass. The light is in full working order and has been rewired with a clear plastic flex which weaves up through the chain by a professional electrician. The polished chromed-metal hanging chain and ceiling rose are more recent additions. There is some scuffs to the silver plastic lightbulb holders which aren't visible when. the glass is in place.
The light requires 6 x Edison E14 small pygmy lightbulbs.
