Victorian circa 1900 Arts and Crafts Antique English Oak haberdashery display stand or column used for displaying hats. Nowadays it can also be used as a candleholder or converted into a table lamp base The stand shows a rich dark hue with wonderful fine grain running throughout. I have waxed and polished it to allow the wonderful patina of the oak grain to shine through. The large square bevelled base is mirrored with a smaller square bevelled plinth on the top. The square tapering column features two parallel carved indentations running vertically up each side.
Another similar display stand of the same period is listed on the Retro Living website but it's slightly different in its height and design hence a separate listing because they're not an exact pair.
In good vintage condition with some wear commensurate with its age - a few small chips and dents in the column and some areas of woodworm in its past. A rusty screw is in the centre of the supporting base which secures the column to it.
