A stunning and eye-catching chandelier which captures a different carefree era with its retro four glass petal "flower" shaped design. Whimsical and dramatic but elegant as well as functional. The four detachable curved petals made from Murano glass which is smoked brown towards the top becoming clearer towards their curved edges. The dark brown at the top is designed to conceal the lightbulb in the centre and the square lacquered gold metal hanging support beneath. The petals are made from thick smooth textured bubbled Murano glass which are detachable.
Designed by Carlo Nason for Italian glass maker AV Mazzega and manufactured during the sixties and seventies by Kalmar Franken KG in Austria.
I believe the square gold lacquered metal support has been replaced in the past for this version. The glass easily hooks onto it. I would recommend hanging each petal on opposite sides at the same time to ensure it remains balanced. The height could be adjusted by removing links from the chain or replacing it for a longer version. The ceiling cup is a shiny brass but could also be replaced for something more contemporary if it's not to your style or taste.
The fitting requires a single Edison E27/E26 screw in lightbulb. The lighting has been checked by an electrician and is in full working order. No chips or cracks to the glass. There is some age related wear to the lacquered gold square support but this is concealed when the petals are in place.
Perfect for above a dining table in a kitchen or dining room to hang low above it.
I have used a LED lightbulb in the images which has made the light look more yellow/orange. Please refer to the images with the light turned off to see the colour in a natural light.
