1980s Danish Holmegaard "Misty" table lamp is a distinguished piece of Scandinavian modernist design, created by the acclaimed Danish artist Torben Jørgensen for the historic Holmegaard glassworks.  This lamp, also known by its model number 45, is crafted from hand-blown, opalescent glass featuring a mesmerising swirl of white spirals embedded within the clear cylinder. The technique involved placing the opal white spirals on the hot glass before it was blown into the final cylindrical mold, a testament to the high level of craftsmanship involved.

Holmegaard Glassworks is a Danish design icon with a rich and proud history that dates back to its founding in 1825 by the pioneering Countess Henriette Danneskiold-Samsøe. Originally established to produce simple green glass bottles, the Countess soon expanded production to include fine household glassware, setting the company on a path to becoming Denmark's oldest and largest glass manufacturer. Over the decades, Holmegaard established a strong tradition of high-quality craftsmanship, collaborating with numerous celebrated designers who helped define the functionalist style of Danish glassware. Today, the brand continues under the Rosendahl Design Group, maintaining its heritage of producing both exquisite mouth-blown and machine-made glass using advanced techniques.

Torben Jørgensen has been associated with Holmegaard for more than 25 years, joining the company in the late 1970s. An artist with great respect for the material of glass, Jørgensen's work is characterised by its focus on "the will of the glass," emphasising the organic nature of the medium. He is known for creating many beautiful and functional utility items, a design philosophy that aims to provide satisfaction to a wide audience. Beyond the Misty lamp, his notable contributions to Holmegaard include the popular and robust Lotus candlesticks and the functional "TJ Ball" lamp designs, among others. His work exemplifies modern Danish design, combining aesthetic appeal with everyday usability.
The lamp still retains its original maker's label on the base.  Refer to images.
