A well-made and quality, fully-functional, teak sideboard featuring sleek clean lines and a lovely patina. Manufactured by British furniture maker Everest of Long Eaton during the 1960s. This eye-catching sideboard has a fantastic teak wood grain which contrasts with the inset black-coated metal handles placed on the inside edge of the two doors on the left hand side and at both ends of the four-drawers in order to make them easy to open and avoid the wood becoming marked/dirty.
The original metal maker's label is present on the inside of the left door stating "EVEREST your well made choice" including their streamline. The sideboard's cutlery drawer is situated on two runners inside the double doors at the top allowing it to be completely removed making it easier to set the table. Inside each door a height adjustable shelf sits on either side. The left had one is narrower allowing taller items such as bottles to be placed in front of it. The four drawers on the right slide out easily. The top one has been covered in green baize felt therefore allowing additional stratchable items to be stored.
Everest was a small British company making stylish furniture in the 1960s that were sold to stores such as Heals of London and Chapmans of Newcastle.
The sideboard is in good vintage condition commensurate with its age and function. The sideboard has been fully restored with some minor signs of wear remaining. Some small scratches barely noticeable scratches remain along with some areas of discolouration. There are some small dents specifically along the runner beneath the doors and drawers. It is 60 years old after all. I believe the green baize felt in the top drawer is a recent additional by a previous owner.
