1960s J.T. Kalmar Smoked Murano Glass Pendant

An absolutely stunning mid century 1960s smoked and clear glass hanging pendant light designed by J.T. Kalmar for Franken KG.  Manufactured in Germany.  The shade is formed with two pieces of heavy textured Murano glass which are a smoked brown colour at the top which fades to clear glass towards the bottom.  Each glass section is secured onto the frame with a single polished chrome screw.  The original wiring has been checked by a professional electrician and is in full working order.  The shade is suspended from a strong piece of adjustable metal wire and the wiring is coiled like a spring therefore making it adjustable to your height requirements along with the metal wire.  The original white coiled flex is yellow in colour due to its age.

The original manufacturer's label showing JT Kalmar for Franken KG is in the plastic ceiling cup.  The lamp was inspired by Italian lighting designer Carlo Nason who designed lamps that are similar in their design and function to Mazzega.  There are some examples on the Retro Living website.

The light requires a single E27/E26 screw in lightbulb.

In very good vintage condition.

Dimensions: Adjustable Height: 120cm Diameter: 48cm
