1960s Danish design large Teak ice bucket or wine cooler. The ice bucket is an elegant convex-shape, reminiscent of a power plant cooling tower, well-made and constructed. Its large size allows it to be fully functional and not just for show holding a lot of ice. There's enough room for a bottle of champagne and for lots of ice to surround it. A top handle with a round recess below allows the lid to be removed easily. The construction is from solid staved teak wood with a beautiful natural grain pattern. The original white plastic liner protects the wood from the iced-water inside.
The manufacturer's stamp or label is nowhere to be found on the piece and I've been unable to source the designer or manufacturer even after a lot of research but it's probably made by Digsmed, Jens H. Quistaard for Dansk or Nissen which manufactured ice buckets of a similar design. A wonderful classic mid century piece in very good vintage condition with no chips or dents.
