1960s Oval John Mortensen Rosewood Dining Table HM55

An absolutely stunning large, extendable, Danish, Rosewood, oval dining table, which has two separate leaves, and a feature pedestal base which opens when extended. Designed by John Mortensen for Heltborg Møbelfabrik during the 1960s. Designed in 1962. Model HM55

The two independent leaves, when in use, lay on top of two sliding metal runners, which connects the two halves of the table. The runners slide into themselves when not in use underneath the main table top.

The table will comfortably seat 10 to 12 people when it is fully extended using both the leaves. The wonderful pedestal design also means than no one will have to contend with dealing with the legs. This also means that the chairs can sit side by side with each other with no gaps where the legs are situated.

The table has been refinished and is in very good condition. The restorer has managed to even up the colour with the leaves, which have rarely been used, the best she could and are their original colour, which differs only slightly now from the main table top.

The table dismantles for ease of transport and storage. The pedestal legs separate into two halves when unscrewed and removed from the table top.

Dimensions: L: 190cm. Each leaf is 50cm wide. The total table length with both leaves inserted is 290cm which makes is it easy to seat 12 people. Width: 123cm. Height: 71cm
