Pair of 1970s German futuristic space age nylon perspex and polished chrome pendant hanging ceiling light. Manufactured by Sompex and designed by French designer Paul Secon. The light is very cleverly constructed with nylon line tightly strung around a perspex frame. The frame is formed from seven perspex spokes which slot into a circular central frame where the single lightbulb fits at the bottom of a polished chrome cylinder bulb holder.
An amazing design and very well made which looks different from every angle. Very mesmerising. The light is reflected beautifully through the nylon and the fins.
Perfect for every room of the house specifically as hanging lights by the side of a bed or in a dining/living room open plan scenario. Over a kitchen counter/island or breakfast table in a kitchen.
Each light requires a single E27 screw-in bulb perhaps an LED with an unusual filament as illustrated in the images. In full working order.
There is also some age related wear to the chrome ceiling cup. There are no chips or cracks to the perspex and the nylon is still very tightly strung and not loose anywhere.
Rare to find a matching pair.
