Pair of Vintage 1950s Italian life-size children's hand-carved articulated wooden mannequins or dolls. As you can see from the images you can have tremendous fun with them. I think they make perfect figurine sculptures for those rather dull corners of any room. The faces are drawn on with black ink and their rope hair is curled with wire running through it. The shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees and ankles all have swivel ball socket joints which allows them to be placed in lots of positions standing or sitting. Constructed from pine, hardwood and plywood.
The mannequins are very well made and may have been used in a department store or a children's toy for their playroom.
In good vintage condition with some splitting to the plywood on one of their faces and some of the wire specifically at the ropes ends is exposed. I have sanded and cleaned them but have left them in their natural state. You may wish to oil or perhaps varnish them yourself.
