Early 20th Century Victorian solid beech millinery block stand which has been varnished which has worn away in places to reveal its unfinished natural condition. The numerous pin marks from years of making hats add to its character and provenance. The block stands on a custom made matching removable beech stand which is marked: 22 1/2. There is a joint line around the hat block where two pieces of solid wood have been used to create its form and glued together. There is a 1mm gap in places where they meet but it's not coming apart.
The hat block is in a used vintage condition with pin marks and some small dents and chips. There is some discolouration between the varnished and unvarnished areas of wood. In one of the holes there is a screw protruding which I am assuming is what's damaged the top of the base but this is not in the centre hole therefore making it fully usable for display purposes.
