Circa 1970 rare sculpted Pirelli belt buckle designed by Salvador Dali (1904-1989) in antiqued polished brass. The buckle is unnumbered with "NR" on the left corner and is plate-signed or etched by the artist on the right corner. The front shows a high-speed erotic motoring scene with a man and woman intertwined to form the body of a car with their heads held backwards to help illustrate the speed of the vehicle. The front wheels are either side of the man's shoulders as he faces backwards.
The reverse is stamped "CD1 MADE IN FRANCE" and "Warranted Finest Minted Brass" with an eagle with outspread wings above.,
I have seen others of the same design either Italian or British made (FAIRCHILD - DEANE AND ADAMS MINT OF LONDON) and some were made as limited editions for Gucci and Tiffany for the Festival of Speed as a collectors piece.
In very good vintage condition. The aged brass has a wonderful patina. A belt isn't included but it would be very easy to have one made for it.
