Pair of 1970s vintage Glashütte Limburg sculptured glass wall lights (or flush-mount ceiling lights) showcasing the bold sculptural style associated with German mid century modern and space age lighting design. The fixtures are made from heavy, textured “ice glass,” formed into a striking starburst or scalloped shell-like silhouette. When illuminated, the thick ribbed glass produces a shimmering, atmospheric glow and distinctive light patterns.
Although these pieces are often attributed to respected German manufacturers such as Glashütte Limburg or Honsel Leuchten—both known for producing high-quality ice-glass fixtures in this era—no manufacturer’s label is present, so the precise maker cannot be exactly confirmed.
This style of glass lighting became an iconic element of 1970s European design. Several German companies, including Glashütte Limburg, Honsel Leuchten, Kaiser, and RZB Leuchten, produced variations featuring textured cast or pressed glass paired with simple metal mounts. Glashütte Limburg, founded in 1947 in Limburg an der Lahn, gained particular recognition for its craftsmanship and design innovation. By the 1960s and 70s, the company had become known for its high production standards, in-house design work, and collaborations with noted designers such as Helena Tynell and Herbert Proft—contributing significantly to the era’s architectural glass aesthetic.
In very good vintage condition with no chips or cracks to the glass.
A single Edison E27 screw in lightbulb is required in each one. The lightbulbs are not included.
