1960s Greaves and Thomas Teak bentwood armchair. The chair is formed from steam bent solid Teak with curved sweeping armrests and a flared spindle back. The legs are constructed from turned, tapered, flared legs. The seat and buttoned back cushion is upholstered in a flame orange and gold fabric.
Greaves & Thomas was London based company which specialised in high-end contemporary furniture which included sideboards and armchairs. During the 1950s/60s they hired designers to create contemporary well-designed furniture. Walter Cornell designed for the company during this period. His designs featured clean lines and a Danish influence. In 1967, Greaves & Thomas was taken over by low-cost furniture maker Schreiber.
