A pair of beautifully made mid century 1960s Greaves and Thomas teak bentwood armchairs. The chairs are formed from steam bent solid teak with curved sweeping armrests and a flared spindle back. The legs are constructed from turned, tapered, flared legs. The buttoned seat cushions are upholstered in a good quality lime green fabric. I have left the back open to allow the beauty of the spindles to be shown to their full design. A loose cushion from Vintage Cushions maybe of help to soften the back which would allow the spindles to be exposed.
Greaves & Thomas was London based company which specialised in high-end contemporary furniture which included sideboards and armchairs. During the 1950s/60s they hired designers to create contemporary well-designed furniture. Walter Cornell designed for the company during this period. His designs featured clean lines and a Danish influence. In 1967, Greaves & Thomas was taken over by low-cost furniture maker Schreiber.
